DO NOT BUY!

Do NOT buy this product! I had another pair that I used for years and had loaned to a friend. I purchased this item as a quick replacement and only used it once. My Mercruiser I/O started to overheat after only minutes of running the engine and after recently replacing the lower unit waterpump. After a couple of hour of diagnosis there was no water being pumped up from the outdrive. When I got into opening up the lower unit, the impeller was melted to shreds. I started going crazy and questioning whether I had turned the water hose on or not. Fortunately, I got my previous set of ears back and with the lower unit water pump opened up I could see tons of water pumping into the impeller chamber with the old set of ears. When I hooked up the Seachoice ears I got from Walmart, the ears made such a bad seal to the lower unit casting. The water barely made it up to the impeller chamber when I was applying external hand pressure. No wonder the impeller melted. Seeing the difference now I can tell the Seachoice ears did not make a good seal and there was no position I could put them in to create any kind of reliable water flow into the impeller chamber. Do NOT buy this item! Save yourself time, money and frustration!
