Logitech K585 Multi-Device Slim Wireless Keyboard, Built-in Cradle for device; For Laptop, Tablet, Desktop, Smartphone, Compact, Easy Switch, Rose

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LOVE! Such a great addition to my Logitech collection. Decently quiet keys and seamless switching between devices is a plus. Super long battery life. Phone/tablet holder is wonky though, holds the device oddly if it has a case on it.

I misplaced my MS dongle, so I needed to replace my keyboard / mouse with one that supports a unifying dongle - so I don't have another good keyboard and mouse laying around that I cannot use. (Logitech unifying compatible devices can pair with any unifying dongle, so if you lose yours, you buy another one and pair it using Logitech software. If you don't have a unifying compatible device and lose your dongle, then you can't use your keyboard / mouse - per AI.) i went to a Logitech display to try the different keyboards / mice and then then entered my personal opinions into AI and asked for patterns. Shockingly, I preferred scissor keys (like a good laptop) over mechanical keys (especially mushy ones). I also discovered that I prefer flat keycaps over concave ones (as on Logitech's more expensive models). On the concave keyscaps, my fingers (in the dry, cold February days) didn't have enough surface area to stay put and slid around.... Instead of getting a solid firm click on those models, my fingers slid... So flat tops on scissor keys was the winner.... And in the store, that was the MK470... However, the MK470 does not support the unifying receiver, so that was a no go... Thus this K585 keyboard... The same keybed as the MK470 with better electronics: Flat / Non-concave keycaps on an excellent scissor key / laptop like keybed - that has a nice amount of click and solid non-mushy feel to it. Nice grip for the fingertips... And not only supports the unifying receiver dongle, but also adds bluetooth support (which makes it fun to type on your phones / tablets.) Also, some non-Logitech keyboards I tried would go into an ultra sleep mode to save bettery, but when you pressed the first key, it may or may not type when it wakes up. Fortunately, that is not a problem with the K585 at all... I type and see the result, even after many minutes away. I chose the rose color, because I found he contrast to be better.. I can see the letters on the keyboard much better than on the black version... that also surprised me. I am unaware of any backlit wireless keyboards (that'd be crazy short battery life) - so the contrast of the keys is important. I'm only a few weeks in, so no idea about long term durability. Thus far, dongle: Windows 10 / 11, Linux Mint, Linux kubuntu - all great. bluetooth: Android 16, iOS - all great. I will next test MacOS X, MacOS Classic, Fedora, CachyOS, and GrapheneOS - and I expect them all to work. in fact, this review was typed on the keyboard into an Android phone.
