This is rated one of the top portable water purifiers available. In FL, we have storms and outages that require we boil water with last minute notices! So glad to have this product on hand now because along with the boil water need, the electric goes with it at times! Boil by gas grill?? I like that there is a few ways to use it as well. I bought 2 which covers my husband and me and the other for our 2 dogs! Good for over 1500 gallons of clean water per unit...bargain

A gift of clean water for Christmas.

I haven't used it as I got it for a Christmas present to a young couple in case of emergencies. The power around here goes out at least a couple times a year. And I think everyone should have a way to make sure they have clean drinking water. ... I carry a Sawyer in my pack at all times. And with Sawyer's reputation, I thought it would make a nice Christmas gift. Hopefully I'll never have to report how it worked.

Improvement to Life Straw idea

Instead of laying down and drinking through a straw this allows you to fill the bag and drink standing up or while walking. You can use a standard water bottle instead of the bag that comes with it because it has standard threads. You can also attach a straw and use it exactly like a life straw. Finally, you can attach this to the drink tube from most bladders for use with unfiltered water. Sawyer filters, this one included, can be back flushed with clean water. Making Sawyer filters capable of lasting for years instead of one time use. I downgraded Durability because a long term filter should come in a stronger case. If you ever need this device, it would be disaster to find a connector snapped off.
