It runs very good and the fans run at like 120 degrees. You could check on the hp omen hub which is the laptop's own app.

-pros great buy, has a 4060, 16gb of ram ddr4 which is enough despite ddr5 being out, and a decently paired i5 12500 CPU. You will not find a greatly specced laptop for a similar price. In fact you will find similar hardware for 3-400 dollars more and some laptops with worse gpu/cpu combos. Cons - they clearly poured the budget into the performance of this laptop only -The backlight is there but white only. -Minimal io ports, so you may need to invest in a 20$ USB port expansion. -From looks you would guess this laptop costs a pretty penny but you wouldn't guess it's a gaming one. So if you're going for the "gamer" look at all costs, this isn't really it. -512gb of ssd space -do not connect to Internet during setup, as hp hits your laptop with bloatware (antivirals,antimalwares, HP softwares) -out of the box, my model was way behind on updates. This is minor, as once it finished it ultimately doesn't affect the performance, and review rating I'm giving it. Install another SSD(I got a decent gen3 SSD 1tb added) and this is a great buy without breaking the bank. Get a lower specced laptop(i7 paired with 2050, 1650) and you or your loved one will be forced to play at low graphical settings on newer and newer games, and at low fps. If you're buying as a gift and the purpose is for gaming on the go, this is the one to get! Save on your wallet for the main piece so you still have money left over to get a game or 2, a nice headset, and a mobile keyboard/mouse. All products have defects down the line. No product that gets shipped out and handled makes it unscathed 105% of the time. I don't think a product should be rated low because you got it later than expected or because it came defective. If they refused to replace your product, or it was defective 3 times in a row, then that would give reason to warn buyers of build quality/customer support. Is this a good buy at 699? No, it's a GREAT buy. Would I buy this still at 1099? Perhaps, but I would look for laptops with better gamer peripherals, possibly better pairs cpu, and better io(ports).
