Even when hooked up out of position the "bite" does not slide as much as the hook normally does by it self and you are to interface the hook more locations.

These are very nice straps. Good stitching, nice material. These are some of the nicest quality straps I have used. I will likely buy this brand of ratchet strap when I need new ones as well.
