Gentle Leaders are Perfect for Walking your Dog :)

I have used a gentle leader on several dogs over the years. To me, they are the most logical and humane collars for our .canine companions. When my dog pulls to chase a squirrel or see a friendly pup, a little tug turns the dog's nose — like a horse halter. It redirects their attention. Instead of tugging on a dog's neck and damaging the esophagus. And, of course, halters are only a good choice for petite, miniature dogs — unless you are training horses to pull a plow or cart. Of course, halters teach animals to pull. So, looking at the options for dogs — the Gentle leader is a sound, intelligent choice. I do recommend putting it on your dog while eating (follow directions for fit) and giving treats so the pup can adjust to the feel of the new collar. Again, it is the nicest thing you can do to your canine companion.

The tan color works well with my 80 lb male golden. Once he has it on he is calm and listens so much Better. People notice it however. and ask why I have a muzzle . ( I say it is not a muzzle but like reins on a horse ) You have to use it everyday for awhile to get your dogs attention. Dogs want us to show us how they can appease us. We are a team . The world is a team. It is a process that will make your life better when walking. Ignore them trying to take it off unless it is too tight to start. They will complain for awhile but you do not want you or your dog in a situation you cannot handle. There can be consequences. One other note- stay away from dog parks until your pup can handle it. It can be fun but stressful if they can't handle it. Also-dog parks are fun but don't go until your vet says it is safe. Parvo is everywhere and you don't want your pup In compromised too early. Can cause a lot of issues for you and one you love.
