This is an active SCOBY, and it came with primer kombucha brewed with that SCOBY, so all you have to do is make your prepared sweetened tea, let it cool, and then add the SCOBY to your tea. I also ordered a heating mat for brewing my kombucha so that I can keep it at a constant warmer temperature and it should brew faster and with a better flavor if it is kept warm enough. This is very simple to use, and makes a healthy kombucha drink that you can then add flavorings to and carbonate if you want to. This is easy to do and much cheaper than buying commercial kombucha, since tea is cheap and easy to make in large batches.
