KirKasa Black Dining Chairs Set of 4, Solid Rubberwood Spindle Back Chairs, High Back Farmhouse Kitchen Chairs and Dining Room Chairs

This set of 4 dining chairs comes in a black finish, all from the same batch. The hourglass splat and turned spindles are the Windsor shape; the tapered legs and level seats are what make four of them sit in a row without a single wobble.

Sized So You Sit, Not Perch

The seat sits 18 in off the floor and measures 15.9 x 16.4 in, so a grown adult lands flat-footed with thighs level rather than hanging off the edge. The chair stands 37 in tall, and that puts the seat in the sweet spot for any table from 28 to 32 in high. If you have ever eaten a meal perched on a chair that was an inch too tall, you know why this matters.

The Back Does the Work

High back dining chairs are only worth the name if the height lands where your shoulders actually sit, and here it does: the backrest rises 19 in above the seat and leans back a few degrees, so shoulders settle against it instead of hovering. Down the centre runs an hourglass splat, flanked by turned spindles and capped by a solid top rail - the Windsor chair silhouette, which has kept people at the table for two centuries because it works. The curve is not decorative: it meets the back where the back actually curves.

Solid Rubberwood, All the Way Through

These are solid wood dining chairs in the literal sense: frame, backrest, seat and legs are all rubberwood, a dense hardwood that takes a screw and holds it. The seat is milled from the same stock, the back is cut and shaped rather than moulded, and nothing inside is hollow. Each chair is rated to 300 lb, and the weight sits on four legs that were cut to carry it. Wooden dining chairs with a grain you can read across the seat.

Around the Table, and Beyond It

Around a dining table they are dining room chairs; pushed up to an island or a breakfast bar they read as kitchen chairs, and at 18 in the seat they clear a standard counter. Farmhouse dining chairs with a Windsor lineage sit comfortably in a country room and just as easily in a modern one - it is the tapered leg and the open back that keep them from looking heavy. Four of them, they line up without a gap.

Wipe, Don't Baby It

The finish is sealed, so a spill beads up instead of soaking in. A damp cloth handles coffee, jam and the crayon somebody left on the seat - one pass and it is gone. No oiling routine, no covers, no coasters under the feet. Solid wood that is allowed to be furniture rather than a museum piece.

One Box, One Assembly

All four chairs arrive in a single 55 lb carton with the hardware and tools inside. Bolt the legs on, tighten the screws, stand them up - there is no second delivery to wait on and nothing to buy separately.
