Key item features

  • One ingredient, nothing else: 100% black sesame oil. No refining, no bleaching, no solvents, no preservatives, no blending. What the black sesame seed had is what the bottle has.
  • Wood pressed, slowly: Cleaned black sesame seeds are pressed in a wooden ghani at low speed, so the oil never heats up and keeps its dark color, thick body and deep, roasted nutty aroma. Unfiltered, so a little sediment at the bottom is normal.
  • The oil of abhyanga: Among the sesames, the Ayurvedic texts name black sesame first for abhyanga, the daily self massage: warmed a little and worked from scalp to feet before a shower. The same oil is used for oil pulling and for winter scalp oiling. We share this as tradition.
  • At the table: Deeper and more assertive than white sesame. A spoon over rice, noodles and grain bowls, into a dressing where sesame should lead, or for light sauteing at medium heat.
  • Fresh, small batches: Pressed in small batches in Ahmedabad, India, sealed in a BPA free PET bottle and shipped to the USA. Best before 6 months from packing. Keep cool, capped tight and away from sunlight.
