Incentivized Review: I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
I'm extremely disappointed with this bread cloche because the product listing repeatedly describes it as enameled cast iron, and what I received is absolutely not cast iron. It is a very lightweight, thin metal that feels similar to the traditional black speckled roasting pans used for turkeys. It may be aluminum or another lightweight metal, but it is definitely not the heavy cast-iron construction advertised.
The listing even states that the “heavy cast iron body stores steady heat” and lists the product weight as 3.2 lbs. Mine does not feel remotely close to that weight. I included photos with my hand for scale and also compared it with my Emile Henry ceramic bread cloche. Despite the Emile Henry being larger, the difference in substantial construction is immediately obvious.
The size of this cloche would be perfectly adequate for a smaller loaf, and it does come with several useful extras, including a silicone baking mat, dough scraper, brush, spatula and a basic no-knead bread recipe. Those could be helpful for someone just getting started with bread baking. Unfortunately, none of that makes up for the main product being materially different from how it is advertised.
I specifically chose this because I wanted a cast-iron bread cloche. Had the listing accurately described it as a lightweight metal bread baker, my expectations would have been completely different.
Buyer beware: if you are purchasing this specifically because the listing says it is enameled cast iron, that is not what I received.
