Hannah's Heart Awakens: A Children's Story About Discovering Jesus' Love, (Paperback)

Seven-year-old Hannah has always been full of curiosity and joy, but one summer with her Aunt Grace changes everything.

In a quiet home filled with laughter, music, and prayer, Hannah spends her days learning to bake, garden, and simply be still, the kind of slow, sweet season every child deserves. But it is a quiet night, curled up with an animated Bible story, that changes her forever. As Hannah watches Jesus heal a blind man, something stirs inside her heart so strongly that she cannot stop the tears, and she runs to her Aunt Grace with a question every child eventually asks: can you pray for me?

What begins as a simple bedtime cartoon becomes a sacred moment of awakening. Through gentle faith, tender love, and a caring aunt who knows exactly how to meet a child's big feelings with Scripture and prayer, Hannah invites Jesus into her life and discovers a peace that only He can give. Hannah's Heart Awakens reminds children that God still speaks, still loves, and still calls even the smallest hearts to believe.

Children today carry more worry than we sometimes realize, anxiety, loneliness, and the kind of big questions that tend to surface right at bedtime, when the house goes quiet and little minds start to wander. Few picture books pair a soothing bedtime cadence with a child's first personal encounter with faith the way this one does, making Hannah's Heart Awakens both comforting in the moment and spiritually formative for years to come.

This is the first book in The Hannah Series, created by author Shaunta Scott, whose own childhood encounter with God's presence at age seven became the seed for Hannah's story. Hannah's faith-filled mama, Faith, is inspired by Shaunta's own mother, Darlene, and her loving Aunt Grace is drawn from Shaunta's real-life Aunt Vicky. In many ways, Hannah is Shaunta: a little girl who encountered God's voice at a young age and never forgot what it felt like to be seen, known, and loved by Him.

Hannah's Heart Awakens is written for children ages 4 to 8, and for the Christian families, grandparents, teachers, and children's ministry leaders who read alongside them. It is a natural fit for bedtime routines, church nurseries and children's ministry programs, VBS reading lists, and family devotional time, especially for families looking for a gentle, story-driven way to introduce a child's very first conversation with God.

Shaunta Scott lives in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she continues to write, mentor, and encourage others to trust God's timing, even in seasons of waiting. Through The Hannah Series, she hopes to help every child who reads it discover what Hannah discovered: that God's love never sleeps, and it is never too far, and never too late, to say yes to Him.

Pray with Hannah. Believe with Hannah. And watch a child's heart awaken to faith that lasts a lifetime.

What Others Say About This Book:

Hannah's Heart Awakens meets children right where they are-with hope, clarity, and a voice they can trust. As a mentor working with at-risk youth, I've seen how stories shape choices. Shaunta's book gives kids language for faith, invites families to talk about purpose, and offers a gentle path to peace. I believe this story will encourage parents, educators, and mentors alike.
