Altra Men's Escalante 4 Road Running Shoe - Gray/Lime

I've been experimenting with zero drop shoes and I bought a pair of these Escalante 4's . I've got a bit over a hundred miles on them now and I like them more every time I run in them . They take a little getting used to and I wish they had a bit less cushioning but they are NOT like a HOKA style marshmallow shoe at all . I like the non-padded tongue and the sole seems like it will wear well .

These shoes are very comfortable; there's no doubt about that. It's like walking almost barefoot! They weigh next to nothing. But there are some negatives that could be addressed in future releases. 1. Tongue Movement. The tongue is not really attached near the top of the shoe, and this causes the tongue to slide left or right very easily. Minor annoyance. 2. Inner Heel Damage. I've owned these shoes for 6 months now and starting around 2 months in a started to notice some wear on the inner heal. Now there is a pretty big hole at that spot on both of my shoes. I expected to get a little more longevity out of these shoes and I really want to love them because they are so comfortable but I can't justify spending the money if they will just break down every few months.
