UGREEN M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure, USB C 10Gbps External Hard Drive Case, M.2 PCIe NVMe Adapter for 2230/2242/2260/2280 SSD

Upgraded my laptop SSD last week and had a spare 512GB NVMe drive sitting around. Didn't want it to go to waste so I grabbed this. Took literally less than a minute to put together since it's tool-less, you just slide the tray out, pop the drive in, and clip it down. Speeds are great over the USB-C port, getting around 950 MB/s transferring large video files. It does get a little warm to the touch when copying a ton of data at once, but the aluminum case seems to be doing its job drawing the heat away. Very solid budget buy.

First of all, I screwed up and ordered this when I have M.2 non-NVMe SSDs so don't be like me. The NVMe ones only have one notch and the ones you might have from a laptop have two notches. The enclosure itself is a good mix of metal and plastic and should provide some passive heat dissipation. Opening it up to install the SSD is easy and the provided screwdriver does everything you need it to. Despite my mistakes, Windows could find the Realtek hardware and it acted like a drive with no drivers needed to be installed. Since I used the wrong type of SSD I just couldn't initialize or mount the SSD as a volume. With an actual NVME drive I'm sure this will work really well!
