I opened the box and immediately contacted customer service. All I could see was pieces of a chair covered in black fabric. I didn't unpack the box because I figured I would have to send it back because I ordered a beige chair. Customer service responded within a day to tell me what I was seeing was the fabric that covers the building materials of the chair. The beige slipcover, seat cushion and back pillow were vacuumed sealed and packed under all of the chair pieces and additional protective cardboard. If I would have first read the instructions completely I might have figured that out but an included note, on the top of the chair pieces, might have eliminated that confusion. Quick, four pieces, four bolts, one person, assembly! There are four metal posts, plastic wheel castors included, if you would like the chair to glide smoothly. If you want the chair to remain stationary there are four adjustable feet that come installed in the metal box frame. The chair is simple construction of a metal base, open bottom box, armrests and a back. The open bottom box is what that company is calling hidden storage, but that is a bit of a stretch from a practical standpoint...although an awesome hide and go seek spot ;) The slipcover is made of a thick, off white fabric, that is lined. It's beautiful but a little lighter, less beige more cream, than I expected. It's still neutral and will fit into most decors. The slipcover, I received, appears to be flawless and stitched very well for durability. It fits tight and has velcro on the underside to stick to the black fabric. I was surprised how well it stays in place. The seat cushion velcros onto a piece of black fabric on the slipcover. There is a piece of scrap fabric over the velcro that needs to be removed first. That tip is not in the instructions. Because it velcros in place, the seat cushion cannot be flipped, but it stays tight and doesn't slide. The back pillow is loose and reversible. This is a large dining chair and it sits like it. The seat is stiff with the backrest having a slight recline, which is more comfortable than a Victorian style chair. I am 5'4" and the backrest ends at my shoulder blades. It's a, sitting at a table, desk or conversation chair. It's not great as a cuddle up reading chair because the back is too low to support the neck and the seat is not as deep. The arms are low profile enough to just slip underneath a traditional height dining table and the castors make it very easy to move around smoothly, even on thick carpet.
