A fresh breeze fills the sail. This framed print of Breezing Up by Winslow Homer is a gift for sailors and coastal fans from our family-owned shop in the USA. It suits a den, study or lake house, with a wall hanger on the back.

Salt air and sunlight fill this framed print of Breezing Up by Winslow Homer. It is a cheerful choice for sailors, boating fans, coastal collectors and lovers of American art who want a hopeful scene of youth and open water in a den, study, lake house or living room. The wide 14"x11" piece arrives framed and finished. Its sea-green palette and billowing sail feel at home in a lake house, a den or a bright hallway.

Winslow Homer painted Breezing Up, also titled A Fair Wind, between 1873 and 1876. A fisherman and three boys glide along in a small catboat called Gloucester, the sail full and the green water sparkling, with a schooner far off on the horizon. The original belongs to the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, and it is a cherished picture in American art. Collectors still search for the painting by its other title, A Fair Wind.

The print comes in one size, 14"x11", in a horizontal format that suits a mantel, a sofa, a headboard or a spot above a desk. It adds a breezy note to a nautical gallery wall with other sailboat pieces. A wall hanger is attached to the back, so you add only a nail or screw of your own, and it goes up in a minute. Pair it with a rope, a ship model or a stack of nautical books for a relaxed coastal vignette. The wide shape also fits a mantel in a beach cottage or a wall in a reading nook.

Choose from four frame finishes: Black for crisp contrast with the sail, Barnwood for a beach-house feel, Charcoal for a calm modern look, or Walnut for a warm lake-cabin tone. The artwork is a paper print behind a clear acrylic front panel in a polystyrene moulding frame. Our family-owned shop prints and frames each one by hand in the USA. The clear front panel protects the print and keeps the sparkle of the water and sail bright.

This picture suits a housewarming, a new home gift, a lake house present or a thank-you for a boating enthusiast. It also works as a retirement gift for a sailor or a just-because treat for anyone who loves the coast. Give it with a note about a fair wind and many good days on the water. It is also a friendly choice for anyone who counts the weekend by the water. A hopeful scene of youth and open water cheers a graduate, a captain or a new homeowner.
