This external hard drive was easy to set-up. It was pretty much plug and play. I pray it lasts several years. The cost was more than it was listed on a competitor's website. I prefer big box stores for electronic purchases.

Buyers should be aware that on Linux this is not a 12TB drive but rather a 10.91TB drive. Remember that hard drive manufacturers use decimal (base 10) units: 1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes But computers use binary (base 2) units: 1 TiB = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes So 12 TB (decimal) = about 10.91 TiB (binary) Then the OS (especially Windows) usually reports storage in binary but labels it as TB, making it look like you're “missing” space. But, you're not. I wish manufacturers would use the binary, actually useable, disk space in their advertising. Also: a bit of space goes to: File system overhead (e.g., partition tables, formatting) System files or metadata (if it's a pre-configured external drive) So yeah, it's normal — your “12TB” drive showing around 10.x TB is expected and not a defect.
