In ultra cold, pull the rim down to go way down to cover your neck too. 100% acrylic should mean washing it will not destroy it, and there is just the right amount of stretch to keep the hat on in the wind, and yet wearing it doesn't feel like a rubber band around your head, so comfort is as good as it gets. You won't feel as if you need to take it off your head, as soon as possible. Stitching is top notch too. Not your typical nit cap. Stuff it in your pocket, or stash it in a backpack....compact and even comes with a nice storage pouch. It's a great purchase.

I put this thermal beanie to the ultimate test. I wore it while shoveling my driveway in -8 F degree weather with brutal winds. This beanie exceeded my expectations. The polar fleece lining kept me warm even in sub-zero temperatures. I didn't stay out there too long, as it was -8 degrees, but this wool cap kept me warm the entire time I was out there. The built-in ear flap design is brilliant. It provides total coverage without having to constantly tug the hat down. As a larger man, I usually struggle with hats being too tight. This one is soft, stretchy, and fits perfectly without feeling too snug. It's well-made, stylish, and warm enough for even the coldest days. This is officially my new go-to winter hat!
