There was no assembly required as it came in a big cardboard box which then became entertainment in itself for our 5 year old. She promptly got out her markers and drew all over the box. She did find time to sit at her table with her new chair and enjoy her lunch and snack later today. She was thrilled with the chair, as I had let her help pick it out, so she was very excited to see it in person. It was exactly as described and should last through most if not all of her elementary years. I would absolutely recommend it and buy it again if needed.
