They can also be hung as high as possible, close to the ceiling, because that makes the room look taller and more airy. They are sturdy metal, perfect for heavy curtains with many rods, and I can also hang rods at the front.

Sturdy, solid double rod -- Keeps light out

I purchased the white double curtain rod because I was tired of flimsy curtain rods (!) and wanted one that kept our bedroom curtains close to the wall to prevent bright morning light from rousing my husband too early -- 5:30 am is just way too early for us! The rod works really well and keeps the room dark. Be careful with sizing when you buy one... it worked for me with a standard window size, but I could see problems for some people. The rod is made up of metal tube sections that screw together, and only one adjustment section. I was a bit nervous, about getting it right, but it worked out fine (whew!)-- and I'm happy with the results. A good purchase.
