Triceratops

Overall a good set, I liked the build a lot. I wish the triceratops was actually a build out of Lego and not just a molded piece. But besides that a good set. Goes well with the rest of the my jurassic park builds :)

Great set but wrong vehicle number

Fantastic set with one small quibble to detail. The vehicle is identical to the one in T. rex Breakout 76956 but, the number in this set is wrong. This set has vehicle #4 but in the movie, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm are in vehicle #5 when Ellie jumps out to see the Triceratops. This set should have used the vehicle #5 sticker, not the #4 sticker.

A ton of fun and still not done!

So far we are getting a lot of enjoyment out of this set - and we aren't even done with the build! My son wanted to build one of the Jurassic sets last night for his evening activity and this was the one chosen. He got the triceratops and Ellie built first (which kept our youngest busy), then he moved on to the vehicle. He only got the first bag completed (an hour goes by fast!), but was very into it. (His direct quote after getting the fenders on was: "This is good building!") This afternoon, he finished the Explorer and is now driving it around next to my 60's Batmobile version (built from the T-Rex Breakout instructions). Looks like it's going to keep us entertained for quite some time! (And he still needs to build bag 3!) A note on the construction: This seemed like a better version for play than the T-Rex Breakout build. The bumpers on this one seem to be sturdier and the roof seemed easier to build. However, the extension of the grill guard was a challenge for him (I ended up helping finish it), but overall he was able to manage almost everything else on his own. (He is only three though!) I've read a few reviews about the differences in the Explorer build in this one compared to the one in the T-Rex Breakout set, but perhaps the main reasoning for the changes here were to accommodate younger builders. (Though, I guess that doesn't cover the interior color change...) Lastly, I have to be honest: the price almost kept us from purchasing this set. We typically go for sets with a higher ratio in terms of pieces-per-dollar - and this one was well below that mark. Perhaps the licensing was a big reason for the higher price of this set, but it was still a drawback. That said, as Jurassic Park was quite an influence during my childhood, we saw this as a fun way to share some of our favorite things. (Unfortunately, he informed me as he finished the Explorer: "I made [me] a Dad's Favorite!" Guess I'm stuck with the Batmobile version!) *I'm also loving all the frogs in each of these 30th Anniversary builds! Nice little reference to the DNA modifications!
