The hard inner case fits snugly around the edges of the phone, while the rubber outer case cushions any drops and covers the back. This case stands about 1/8 inch taller than the screen and the camera cluster, so if the phone slides across a rough flat surface like asphalt the screen and lenses won't get damaged. The rubber layer also provides good grip so the phone does not easily slide from your hands. This Rugged case does add about 1/4 inch of size to the height, width, and depth. I personally prefer cases with less bulk, but if you need more protection, this case is a great option.
