Not suitable for small dog

You have to carry the remote with you at all times The neck prongs were so long it felt like a torture advice for my 12lb 2yr old Cavapoo I think on medium dogs this might work. But the large neck prongs with remote are still a no go

At least it doesn't bother my cats' hearing

I bought it for training to try to startle my puppy and interrupt him when he was chasing our cats. It comes with instructions as more of a safety deterrent when you're walking and approached by an aggressive dog. Could it maybe work to give you a few extra seconds? Maybe. It's not the best training tool I have but at least it doesn't seem to bother my cats. It's not the same as the "gentle pet" brand. The sound comes with lights, no way to turn that off. I would say the concept is moderately effective-ish but it's probably not necessary. Save your money and invest more time in training. If you want it as a safety tool, I can't say if it would work or not but I don't see it working for more than a brief period and maybe not with a totally jacked up dog.
