I went into this a little unsure, especially since I’m very picky about sodas and usually stick to familiar flavors. I also wasn’t sure how a prebiotic soda would compare to a traditional Shirley Temple, which I’ve loved since I was a kid. I have not ever seen or noticed Shirley Temple flavored sodas until prebiotic soda brands started releasing them. That being said, this was my first time trying a prebiotic soda and I was already a bit hesitant and concerned that none of them would have the authentic Shirley Temple flavor done right. I figured that this might end up being a sickeningly sweet version of Shirley Temples or taste nothing like them. Either way, I was hoping it wouldn't miss the mark so much that it would make me want to avoid one of my childhood favorites. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t taste exactly like a classic Shirley Temple, but it’s close enough to recognize, with its own slightly different unique take on the flavor layered in. The sweetness is balanced and not overwhelming, and there isn’t a lingering aftertaste, which was something I was concerned about. It still comes across as a true soda rather than tasting watered down or artificial. The overall beverage is light and refreshing, and the flavor is distinct without being too strong. The pink can design stands out and has a fun look that would be so cute to serve for get togethers. It leans a bit different from the original drink it’s inspired by, but it stays in that range while offering something slightly new. I liked it so much I ended up purchasing it again. I was even happier knowing that it contained low calories, low sugar and fiber and other ingredients that help support digestion. It felt like a healthier alternative that actually tastes really good. The can is about the size of a standard soda can. The price per can is a bit on the higher side when compared to other traditional sodas. However, when it comes to prebiotic sodas, the cost is pretty competitive. Given the quality ingredients, great flavor and prebiotic blend, it seems like a decent value. Overall, I really enjoy these Shirley Temple-inspired prebiotic sodas.
