it covers quite a large space, like 12x12 size room. it is louder on higher settings, but i sleep better with some sound. Filter replacement is easy and really depends how many animals you have on how often to change. We have 3 cats and 2 ferrets. Filter lasts around 6 weeks. You can't beat the price.
