The Autel MaxiDAS DS708 is a high-end automotive scanner. Kinda pricey for most driveway mechanics, but it's about half the original price. That's due to its being a discontinued item from Autel. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work and work well. It covers virtually any vehicle sold in the US and many that never reach the US. I have used other, less expensive OBD scanners for specific manufacturers, but this one covers all. Also, it scans all controllers in detail. I used in on Mercedes, Audi, and Infiniti so far and it identifies fault codes missed by other scanners--it covers not only the engine, but the transmission, All Wheel Drive, internal communications, et. If you have more than one brand of vehicle that you work on yourself, at this price, this is worth having considering the dealer will probably charge at least $100 to do the same thing this scanner does--every time! You can find the MaxiDAS DS708 for less if you search, but not a lot less. Beware, though, Autel only has a handful of authorized retailers, distributors, etc. in the US (Walmart being one distributor channel) and getting one from another seller may not allow warranty coverage.

Professional tool
I currently have the MD802 all sys for a few years (extremely useful) and I"m looking to upgrade to a bi-directional scanner. I know there is no one tool that does all. DS808 has exceeded my expectations. It can do most of the stuff out here and cover most of newer vehicles.
