Start with clean, dry hairWash and fully dry your hair. Crimping works best on completely dry hair to avoid heat damage and uneven texture. Apply heat protectantSpray a heat protectant evenly throughout your hair to prevent dryness and breakage from high heat. Section your hairDivide hair into small, thin sections (about 1–2 inches wide). Clip the upper layers up so you can work on the lower sections first. Set the temperatureAdjust the crimping iron to a suitable heat setting: Fine/color-treated hair: low to medium heat Thick/coarse hair: medium to high heat Begin crimping Take one small section of hair. Open the crimping iron and clamp it close to the roots. Hold for 3–5 seconds, then release. Move the iron downward slightly and repeat, overlapping slightly to create continuous crimps. Work from roots to ends. Continue with all sectionsUnclip upper layers and crimp each section the same way. For extra volume, focus on the underlayers near the scalp. Finish and setOnce cooled slightly, gently finger-comb to loosen the texture. Apply a small amount of hairspray to hold the style all day. Cool and storeTurn off and unplug the iron. Let it cool completely before storing.
