i bought this cage to replace the one i was currently using. i love the large doors on the front. the wire floors mean a cleaner cage (i cover the floors with an old towel, once a week roll up the towel, shake out outside, wash). your pet shouldn't walk on wire mesh floors. i have 3 rats in this cage. they love the hammock it came with. the water bottle keeps slipping down though, so i had to buy a new one. sure to the spacing of the horizontal bars, get a watter bottle that doesn't hang on a horizontal bar, it will be too low. get a water bottle that attaches to wire cages with the two washers and wing nut you tighten. the food bowl is good, they can't tip it. it was fairly easy to put together. with two full floors, there's plenty of room for my boys. also lots of space to hang hammocks, attach lava ledges and other toys. the bar spacing is small, this is great for smaller pets/baby rats. the covers on the ledges and ramps are easy to pull off and wash. your pet can walk on the wire for a day while you wash coverings, that's not a problem. but walking on wire mesh can lead to injuries or bumblefoot, so plan on covering it when it's not being cleaned. my old cage has plastic solid floors and ledges and they get very dirty very fast and are difficult to clean. this is unsanitary and unhealthy for the rats. the rats really seem to enjoy this cage and the large front doors allows me to interact with them and pick them up easier. the pull out tray on the bottom is nice, but again, your pet cannot be walking on wire mesh the majority of the time. the storage shelf below is small, but i fold clean towels/rags and store them there for when i clean their cage.
