One of the biggest reasons to buy this is it comes un assembled, I wanted one upstairs, and even the small safes are 300 pounds! Took several trips up and down the stairs but 2 or 3 pieces of a 100 pound gun cabinet are much more doable for an average person. It's sturdy enough to deter kids and smash and grab type thieves, but with a few tools I could get inside in a few minutes, the hinges are a really weak spot on this design, hammer and pry bar would bust them pretty quickly I'm sure. I left out the 'shelf' above the long gun area, even my shortest shotgun didn't fit, Carbines only if you put it in. I recommend Lowe's Kobalt brand rust inhibiting tool box liner for the floor and shelves, comes in a roll in the hand tools section. padding, rust resistance, and non skid for buttstocks! Also, there's no way even 30 long guns will ever fit in there! Maybe with alot of pistols on the shelves? Dunno..... Bottom line a good security cabinet, but it's not gonna stop a determined thief, but guests and kids won't be getting in it anytime soon.

This is a locker not a safe. However it does have a decent locking system. It is a little small for long guns if you have to use both sides of the top shelf. This would be good for ammo storage. It is ok for hand guns, small caliber rifles and shorter shotguns. It is less than ideal for long guns as it is just short. If you do not have small children at home this would get the job done as described above. It is NOT FIRE RATED at all as it is not a safe it's a locker. The lock is pretty decent though. Best use would be for ammo storage.
