I am thrilled with the quality and fit of this rain jacket. I believe that it will protect from the rain because of the fabric. It is not a thin windbreaker so it will not fold into a tiny package. I also like that it has an inside pocket as well as outer pockets. I ordered a large and I am 5 ft. 6 in. and weigh 150 lbs. I love the lavender ( purple) color, too.

I love the rain jacket and the purple color. Removing the hood is a great option for cooler weather with no rain. I did have to return the large and get the medium as I have long arms and broad shoulders and usually wear a large My only wish, was that it were a little longer for some of my longer tops.
