5/5 Stars… But Only If You Are Your Own Mechanic

The Bottom Line: I resoundingly recommend this e-bike with a 5 out of 5 rating, but with one critical condition: You must be comfortable doing your own assembly and maintenance. If you can tune a derailleur and adjust disc brakes, this bike is an incredible value that outperforms its specs. If you lack mechanical skills, this purchase could be a headache or even unsafe. CRITICAL WARNING: The "Service Void" Before buying, understand the reality of budget e-bikes: 1. Do Not Trust In-Store Assembly: I have inspected many bikes on Walmart floors and often find dangerous errors (loose bolts, backward forks). Never trust a store assembler with your safety on a motorized vehicle. 2. Bike Shops Likely Won't Help: Most professional shops have strict policies against working on department store e-bikes due to liability. You cannot simply "drop it off for a tune-up." You must have the skills yourself or a knowledgeable friend. Performance: Exceeding Expectations I am a heavier rider (237 lbs w/ gear) and stress-tested this over 20 miles. • Uphill Throttle Test: I took it up a 2-mile hill (265ft gain) using only throttle. Despite approaching the 275lb load limit, it held 13 MPH. • Battery: Advertised 20 miles. After 21 miles of mixed use—plus a torture test of throttle-only riding on hills—the battery still showed 3 out of 5 bars. It crushed the estimate. • Durability: Solid on gravel. No rattles. The "Caveats": QC Issues I suspect I received a returned unit (road grime), but I had the tools to fix it. A novice might have been stuck. • Front Wheel: Cone nuts were overtightened; the wheel wouldn't spin freely. I had to adjust the bearings. • Cabling: Front brake cable was wrapped dangerously around the head tube. I had to disconnect and reroute it. • Rear Wheel: Requires an 18mm wrench (not standard on multi-tools) and cutting zip ties to remove. • Brakes: Mechanical (not hydraulic). Rubbed out of the box. Spongy, but adequate once tuned. The "Parts Bin" Quirk Strange discrepancy: Shifter and Cassette are 7-Speed, but the Derailleur sticker says "6-Speed." Result: Despite the sticker, I tuned it and it shifts through all 7 gears smoothly. Likely just a cosmetic quirk of using cross-compatible parts. Buying Advice I kept this because the UL Certification (fire safety) and Walmart's 90-day return policy gave me peace of mind. • Tip: Stick to direct Walmart brands (Concord, Ozark Trail). This ensures UL Certification and support. Buying from third-party "Marketplace" sellers is a safety gamble I wouldn't take. Verdict: If you are handy with bike maintenance and assembly, buy this immediately. If you aren't comfortable adjusting limit screws and breaks, look elsewhere.

Great E-bike for the money

Arrived overnight, came actually as a class 2, although advertised as a class 1 bike which made me happy. But be aware since some states now have restrictions on where you can ride class 2 and 3 ebikes. This is a heavy bike and I remove the battery to help lift it onto the bike rack for transport. The forks are fixed without any shock absorption, but you get what you pay for. The seat is adequate but could be replaced with a more padded one if you like since the bike is a hard tail and provides no shock absorption. The torque is good, generally ride at level 2 or 3, provides adequate assist up large hills. Be prepared to have to adjust the alignment of the disc brakes, especially on the front. You can watch a youtube video on that otherwise the pads will rub. The pads and brakes could be bigger and of better quality because this is a heavy bike. If I had to be critical this would be the biggest draw back, you need room to stop this bad boy. Maybe next season I will upgrade the pads. Also one more thing, when I bought the bike I noticed Walmart sold the 36V replacement battery for a direct fit for this concord bike, this now seems to no longer be available. This may turn out to be a problem when the battery reaches end of life, otherwise I will have an expensive lawn ornament. I hope Walmart addresses this and brings back the replacement battery, if nothing else then to just have a spare or extra for long trips.

Buy it!

Holds its power incredibly well. My son assembled the bike and it took him about an hour and a half. He's handy. If you aren't comfortable adjusting brakes etc, just have Walmart put it together. I enjoy riding it and get a great workout while also using the motor on hills and to keep up with my son. Buy it and use it. This is a great bike!
