They are so pretty highly absorbent they dry very quickly in about an hour or two and does not harbor any smells. After I finish washing glass; cutlery pots or pans (I rarely wash dishes I use paper plates) I take a drop of antibacterial soap, put a drop on each side of the cloth give a quick scrub of the cloth on both sides, rinse and let dry there is never a smell. I rarely use a sponge anymore except on a tough sticky pot or pan. I highly recommend! Very happy with this Swedish cloth. Great invention. I also use this cloth to wipe down my sink, stove, table, countertops and purchased a different pattern for the bathroom as to not mix up a bathroom cloth with a kitchen cloth. Try it you'll like it.

I'm not a fan of dish cloths because they seem unsanitary but these are eco friendly and sanitary. They get a little crunchy after washed but soften right back up when you wet them. Highly recommend!
