This works very well on my patio! It's very safe as the back part doesn't even get hot to the touch which is perfect because I hung it on my wall. It also automatically shuts off in case I forget to turn it off.

Five stars for me but designed for localized heat.

I had bought the version that came with the tripod for $160 and was looking for just the heater and found this one for $60. This heater puts out great localized heat (3-4 feet). It is designed for wall mount but we use at floor level. The range of heat does not exceed 6 feet. There is no temperature gauge; just off and on but that is perfect for me. It comes with a remote but we just use button. The hinge on the wall mount has limited range (basically 2 positions). There is no tip over sensor. There is no extended guard like the more expensive version so be careful. This heater is perfect for my needs but would probably not work well as intended as a wall mounted unit unless it is mounted right over work area.
