I've been flying and modifying RC helicopters and drones for around 15 years. In my opinion, drones are fun, but helicopters are MORE fun. This heli delivers the goods in a package that nearly any beginner should be able to get the hang of fairly easily. Start with an open area, preferably with no wind and this bird will work with you. (But it also flies really well in the wind, once you get the hang of the controls.) With altitude hold, it's not going to go crazy on you like some helis. But it's still a lot of fun, even for someone with flying experience. It handles the wind really well for a fixed pitch heli. The fact that it's flybarless probably helps with that. Is it a 3D helicopter for the serious hobby flier? No, but that's what's nice about this model: it's a toy that tries to be hobby grade. For those who know hobby grade helis, you'll be happy to know that the main board and the servos are separate units. That means anything from Rasperry Pico, to actual hobby grade reciever/esc combos can be fitted to this heli. As a HUGE bonus, it's plug in compatible with the K110 mainboard, which uses the Futaba S-FHSS protocol. That means you can bind it to a hobby grade transmitter like a XK X6 controller, and set expos to your liking. (If you're a new heli buyer feeling intimidated by all of this, don't worry. Get it. It just means you won't regret it or forget it as you get better at flying.) Plus, once you outgrow the altitude hold, you can remove the spring from the throttle on the remote (add a tension pad to make it less floppy), replace the mainboard with a K110 mainboard for about $20, and fly it without the training wheels. Since this unit is $20 cheaper than anything out there right now, that's a no brainer. You can have an easy to learn heli for all ages over about 8, with a really nice upgrade path, and plenty of parts support that should continue for quite awhile, since these are very popular models. Plus the separation of servos and motors from the mainboard, means there's always a way to keep this machine flying using hobby grade parts. Truly one of the best starter helicopter options out there. Don't pass this one up.
