All I can say is that it works. I got this as a precaution when I moved to a new place because I wasn't sure how my dog or the other pets in the house would act. One of them peed on my bed and this thing's protection was perfect. Nothing touched my mattress despite the urine having sat for an unknown amount of time while I was at work. For reference, my mattress is 10" so it's on the lower side of the range this is supposed to fit. But it fits comfortably. The excess wraps around the bottom of my mattress so there' no weird extended parts sticking out making lumps.
