This is a great vacuum cleaner! We upgraded to this one from our old blue upright Hoover we had. The beater bar stopped after ten years and I wasn't going to take it apart to replace the belt (even though we had 3-4 belts in the garage). I was well pleased with the blue one but was ready for a change to a more modern version. Glad I did. I can only imagine in developing this model Hoover must have sat down with a brainstorming group of users and carefully implemented ALL suggestions. It is a very thought out and easy to use (and clean) vacuum. Plus no bags! it uses several filters within the see thru canister; one picks up the main dirt and another is a micro-filter that removes the dust from our dog occupied room. After using only a short period of time you can see tons of dust in the canister (yet it's big enough to vacuum quite a while between emptying). It really picks up the dirt; very powerful vacuum. The only two somewhat cons I see is that it has a beater bar that is on a swivel aimed by twisting the wrist while vacuuming; which my wife cannot quite yet get jist of (works OK for me). She;ll need a little more practice (that is, If I can part with doing the vacuuming long enough to give her a turn ;) The only other thing which is both a pro and a con: when you stand the handle at 90 degrees from the beater bar on the floor, it stops beating: PRO=it stops beating (my old vacuum continuously beat even when I wanted to pause and move furniture to vacuum under - an annoyance); CON=until you're used to it the vacuum easily goes into the 90 degree position and the beater bar stops (like when you are vacuuming around a corner and lift the handle a mite too high); then you have to step on the beater bar and pull the handle out of 90 degrees to start the bar again and continue - an annoyance). Everything else works even better than expected; a well thought out (and implemented design). Knowing what I know now I would still buy this mode in a heart-beat. I love it!
