Second purchase. First one will be a gift. It might really be forged layered steel, but I won't bother to test it. It is extremely sharp and very comfortable. Fit and finish is excellent. It will replace some of the daily use knives in my home kitchen. I would like to review this knife again in a year or so to see how it holds up. I have made many knives, repaired and sharpened hundreds, and it would be impossible to make a similar knife for this price. I don't have any problems recommending this knife
