2 UPS units didn't last more than 1 or 2 months

I bought two of these. I had it powering my internet cable modem and wireless router (1 device). After a couple of month, the modem/router started restarting continuously. I replaced the first UPS with the second. After less than a month, the second UPS started glitching and the modem/router went into restarts continuously. Since I replaced the UPS with the original power adapter the modem/router has operated flawlessly. I noticed, when changing the UPS the first time, that it was hot, not too hot to touch but too hot to hold. When the second UPS went out, it was just as hot. This is in the bedroom closet of a heated and air conditioned house so it is not subject to temperature extremes or high humidity.
