It's made of polyester and is relatively water repellent, but not something that I'd call waterproof. It does dry very quickly and is relatively windproof, so it makes an nice outer layer. However, it is relatively thin material, so you probably want another insulating layer underneath for cooler days. I really like that it has ample storage pockets both on the outside and nice mesh pockets on the interior - plenty of places to keep things while out on the trail. The shacket fits true to size for me.
