All towels shed! Just want to get that out the way. This one is lightweight, so don't expect a warm, plush feel. As others mentioned, each side has a different texture, but both sides dry you off just fine. That's probably why it dries so fast. And honestly, I'm not mad at not having to run my dryer forever just to dry a super thick towel. A

I purchased this towel so that my large sized athletic son would have his own towel for pool class. I washed it prior to using because previous reviews advised that it sheds tremendously. It did in fact shed a lot in the dryer after the first wash, but came out fluffy and soft. It is very absorbent and is a decent size, though not as oversized as I thought it would be. It's saturated in chlorine pool water, then washed twice a week and is still fluffy and soft after a full semester of class. I would purchase again and again. Five stars for the price, softness and durability alone!
