Had no idea what to expect. purchased it for my son's room on his 18th bday. He found it on porch and was puzzled by the heft of the box. Upon opening it there was some loose powdery salt but nothing to bad. We just made sure to not knock anymore off. No assembly. plugged it in right away and was just blown away by the beauty and quality for the price. I got his w free shipping of over 35. purchase. Lamp is very SOLID.. Great quality cord w nice dimmer feature. I have now read lamp is 11 to 15 lbs. Lol it sure is. Omg it's gorgeous.
