This is the third fountain pen I have owned -- meaning I know very little about them, certainly much less than aficionados. The first was a Black Forest pen (an excellent pen which I regrettably melted in a fire); the second a cheap imitation Black Forest pen (or so I believe, for it cost only $10, made extensive use of plastic, and wore itself to pieces in four years). This pen is larger and heftier than those. It is delightful how easily the ink flows compared to the cheap pen. Do note the nib size! I got a medium nib, which is solid and thick, but even with a light touch does not write small -- be sure to consider how you intend to write and choose the nib size accordingly. To my surprise, this pen came with a 12 black and 12 blue ink cartridges (though it also has a converter). Those will last a good long while! The cap snaps on quite firmly; in fact, so solidly it caused me to bleed when my skin got caught in it. Quite a change from the former pen, which would practically fall into its component pieces whenever I so much as took it from my pocket! I do not know what else to add, except that it feels quite solid. I suspect it will last a good long while.

I've used and owned fountain pens on and off through the years, mostly off because they were slow to start and I'm always in a hurry to start writing when I need to write. The extra scratching needed to see ink impeded the flow from idea to written word. This is the first fountain pens ever that was quick to flow as a regular pen but with the extra flair that only a fountain pen can provide.
