I bought this board to replace a much older Z87 Sabertooth, "TUF" board. I wanted something that was reliable, had an optical out port and could be used to run a music server 24/7. After a few disappointing experiences I wasn't sure how this entry level system would fair, when the high end boards had failed. The result was very pleasant. Coupled with an Intel 13th Gen I5 and 128gb of G.Skill Trident Z Royal DD4 RAM and a few 4TB Seagate Firecuda M.2s the results were impressive. I chose to use the embedded Intel UHD video rather than a discrete card. With the goal of long life I used a Corsair AIO with multiple Corsair and Noctua fans in a push/pull configuration in a very large Corsair 1000D case, with additional Noctua fans throughout. The result is a silent machine that rarely goes above 2 degrees ambient air temperature. Originally I had planned to use an Asus Thor 1200 except because of the panel's mounting location I would have to install it with the fan blowing inside the case instead of exhausting outside the case so I opted for an EVGA PSU. Perhaps in the future the Thor will be more configurable.
