Great Value Bacon yummy

Like most, I can get "stuck" on familiarity, buying the same brand more than not. Usually it's brand loyalty, fit, taste, hope, whatever. This time, for Sunday breakfast, I got a package of Great Value thick bacon, instead of my usual thick bacon. To give it a try, more so than price. You never know when you're going to discover the next great thing. I was happy with the bacon, being about the same as the more "premium" bacon I usually buy. Every package of bacon is different, sometimes they are more uniform in the cut, sometimes, they're off a bit, sometimes you get more meat than fat, just how it is. You certainly want the pieces as uniform as possible, not falling apart in the middle. Check out how this stuff is formed, when you get a chance, to get an idea why sometimes there are oopsies. This bacon tasted fine. Perhaps not as smokey a flavor, but it certainly didn't mask the taste of bacon with it like some do. I feel that there should be a blend of the pork taste, & the flavoring (maple, pepper, smoke). You don't want one over powering the other. Leaning more towards one or the other is a matter of preference. It, & subsequent packages, have cooked up fine. I cook bacon a few different ways, & I didn't have any problem with this bacon, vs any other bacon product that I've use over time. You choose bacon by preference. Mostly fat, mostly meat which ever you like. Fat is the flavor, meat is what you sprinkle on your salad. I more than likely will be switching to this store brand of bacon, especially if I can find it more, & if there is a maple & smoke version, with a thick cut. I like the thick cut, & so far, am happy with the consistency of this bacon from package to package. I am also happy that it's a full pound, not 12oz. Happily I see there is a 24oz package of this as well, which is great.

Great bacon too sweet

This bacon leaves a gooey mess in my cast iron skillet making it difficult to make eggs afterwards. Probably sugar in the ingredients. Be sure to use a non-stick skillet.
