What is the difference between Blu-ray and HD?

A Blu-ray disc stores information differently than other types of discs, meaning that it has a higher capacity. Blu-ray discs produce higher quality video images because of this extra information. HD, or high-definition movies, store more information than standard DVDs, but not as much as the Blu-ray. However, Blu-ray discs can only be used in Blu-ray players, while HD DVDs can be played on consoles and computers as well as DVD players.

Are old movies available on HD and Blu-ray?

Though not all movies have been re-released into new video formats, many are indeed available for purchase, especially classics. Popular genre movies like creature features are often re-issued to complement newer versions. Search for a specific movie title to find your favorite movie.
