Age recommendations can vary by item on Walmart.com, so it’s a good idea to check the product details for the listed age range and any safety warnings. Wind-up chick toys come in plush and plastic styles, and some include small parts.

• Review the age label: Look for ranges like 12–24 months, 2–4 years, and up.
• Check for small parts: If noted, the item may not be suitable for children under three.
• Supervise winding: Help younger kids wind the mechanism gently.
• Consider material: Plush surfaces can be softer for toddlers.

These toys use a simple clockwork mechanism, so no batteries are required. Movement styles vary—some hop, others walk or wiggle—based on the design.

• Find the key or wheel: Usually located on the side or bottom.
• Turn gently: Wind slowly until you feel resistance; avoid force.
• Use a flat surface: Smooth floors or tables help them move more consistently.
• Let it rest: If motion slows, give the mechanism a short break.
• Keep clear: Avoid winding near hair, strings, or delicate fabrics.

Results can vary by toy and surface.

Plush wind-up chicks are best spot-cleaned to protect the clockwork mechanism. Avoid soaking or machine washing, which can affect movement.

• Surface clean: Use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap for the plush.
• Protect the mechanism: Keep water away from the key or internal components.
• Air dry: Pat with a dry towel and let it air dry fully.
• Refresh the fluff: Gently brush or fluff the fibers once dry.
• Store dry: Keep in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture buildup.

Always follow any care notes provided on the product page.

Many wind-up chick listings ship in assorted or random colors, and styles may vary within a multi-pack. Specific color selection isn’t always offered.

• Check the product page: Look for a color selector if options are available.
• Read the title/description: Phrases like “random color” or “assorted” indicate surprises.
• Multipacks: Often include pastel mixes; exact combinations can vary.
• Egg-filled sets: Typically include pre-filled surprises with varied hues.

If a particular color is important, review images and details closely. Availability can change based on inventory and supplier packaging.

Quantity options on Walmart.com range from single pieces to multi-packs, so it’s helpful to match pack size to your event.

• Count guests: Plan one per participant, plus a few extras.
• Check the pack count: Titles often note 4, 6, 12, 20, and more.
• Consider egg size: Smaller plush or mini wind-ups may fit inside eggs.
• Mix styles: Combining chicks and bunnies adds variety.
• Timing and pickup: Order ahead and choose delivery or store pickup if available.
