"Taco maker" can mean a few different tools. Here’s a quick guide to help you choose:

• Tortilla press: Flattens dough into raw tortillas. Great if you’re making corn tortillas from scratch.
• Electric tortilla maker: Presses and heats to cook tortillas with less effort.
• Quesadilla maker: Seals and sections quesadillas for fast, even heating.
• Taco shell mold or fryer tongs: Shapes tortillas into crispy shells by baking, air frying, or frying.
• Taco holder/stand: Keeps tacos upright for filling, baking, or serving.

Think about how you like to cook, how many servings you make, and storage space. Product pages list dimensions, materials, and care details. Pickup and delivery options may be available depending on your area.

Choose a size based on the tortillas you want to make:

• 6-inch: Ideal for street tacos, snacks, and smaller tortillas.
• 8-inch: Versatile everyday size for most tacos and quesadillas.
• 10–12 inch: Better for burritos, wraps, tostadas, or families who want larger tortillas.

Also consider thickness and material. Heavier presses can help with corn dough, while larger sizes take more storage space. Match the press to your skillet or griddle size, and use appropriately sized dough balls to avoid edge cracking. Product listings typically include plate diameter and weight so you can compare before you buy.

Compatibility depends on the specific item’s materials and temperature rating.

• Check the product page: Look for notes like “oven safe,” “air-fryer safe,” and maximum temperature.
• Materials: Stainless steel and carbon steel pieces are often heat-safe, but nonstick coatings can have temperature limits.
• Avoid plastics: Unless clearly labeled heat-safe for the appliance and temperature you plan to use.
• Use and placement: Preheat if the appliance calls for it, place molds on racks or trays, and avoid contact with heating elements.
• Test first: Start with a short trial to see how your setup performs; results can vary by model.

When in doubt, choose items explicitly labeled for your appliance.

Carefully cleaning can help maintain the nonstick surface and performance:

1. Unplug and cool: Let the unit cool completely on a heat-safe surface.
2. Wipe plates: Use a soft, damp cloth or sponge with mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive pads or cleaners.
3. Remove crumbs: A silicone spatula or paper towel can help lift melted cheese and residue.
4. Drip trays: If your model has a removable tray, check the manual; some are top-rack dishwasher safe.
5. Dry thoroughly: Leave the lid slightly open to air-dry before storing.

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific model, and avoid submerging electrical components. Gentle care can help extend the coating’s life, but results may vary with use.

There are a few ways to get that crunch, depending on your tools:

• Bake: Use oven-safe molds or drape tortillas over a rack until crisp.
• Air fry: Place tortillas on compatible molds or holders and cook in small batches.
• Fry: Use fryer tongs or a shell press in hot oil, following your appliance’s guidance.

Safety tips:

• Follow the product and appliance manuals for temperatures and times.
• Use heat-safe gloves and tools; keep water away from hot oil.
• Avoid overcrowding and allow shells to drain on a rack.
• Start with one test shell to dial in timing; appliances vary.

These approaches can help you find a method that fits your kitchen and comfort level.
