Stuff Sacks(658)

Choosing the right size stuff sack depends on what you plan to store.

• For sleeping bags, check the manufacturer's packed dimensions and compare them to the sack's capacity (usually listed in liters).
• If you're packing clothes or gear, estimate how much space they'll take up and select a sack that's slightly larger to allow for easy packing.
• Compression sacks help reduce bulk, while dry bags are ideal for keeping items protected from moisture.

It's a good idea to measure your gear and review product details before deciding, so you get a fit that works for your needs.

Dry bags and stuff sacks serve different purposes.

• Dry bags are designed to keep your gear safe from water, featuring waterproof materials and roll-top closures.
• Stuff sacks are mainly for organizing and compressing items, like sleeping bags or clothing, and may not be fully waterproof.

If you’re heading out for paddling, boating, or rainy conditions, a dry bag is your best bet. For general camping and backpacking, a stuff sack helps keep your pack organized and saves space.

Keeping your stuff sack clean helps it last longer.

• Shake out any loose dirt or debris.
• Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, avoiding harsh detergents.
• Rinse thoroughly and air dry, making sure it’s completely dry before storing.

Don’t use a washing machine or dryer, as this can damage the sack’s fabric and closures. Regular cleaning helps prevent odors and keeps your gear fresh for your next adventure.

While some stuff sacks are water-resistant, most aren’t designed for storing wet items long-term.

• Wet gear can cause moisture buildup, leading to mildew or odors.
• If you need to pack damp items, opt for a waterproof dry bag to help protect other gear.
• Always dry out your gear as soon as possible to keep everything in good shape.

Check product descriptions for water resistance if you plan to use your sack for wet storage.

Absolutely! Stuff sacks make organizing your backpack much easier.

• Use different sizes and colors to separate clothing, food, and gear.
• Compression sacks help reduce bulk, freeing up space for other essentials.
• Drawstring closures make access quick and simple.

Organizing with stuff sacks can save time when setting up camp and keep your backpack tidy, so you can find what you need fast.
