Stranded hookup wires are made up of multiple small wires twisted together, rather than a single solid core. This design makes them more flexible and easier to route around corners or through tight spaces. Stranded wires are often used in projects where the wire needs to bend or move, like in automotive wiring, electronics, or home DIY setups. If you need a wire that can handle frequent movement without breaking, stranded options can be a practical choice.

Choosing the right wire gauge depends on your project's power needs and the distance the wire will run.

• Lower gauge numbers mean thicker wires that can handle more current.
• For small electronics, higher gauges (like 22 or 28 AWG) are common.
• For household or automotive uses, you might need something thicker, like 14 or 18 AWG.

Some stranded hookup wires are designed for indoor use, while others may be suitable for outdoor projects if they have the right insulation.

• Look for wires with weather-resistant or UV-resistant jackets if you plan to use them outside.
• Check the product details for any mention of outdoor or indoor/outdoor use.

Many stranded hookup wires are flexible and can be used for car audio installations, especially those labeled as automotive or primary wire.

• Check that the wire gauge matches your audio system's requirements.
• Look for insulation that can handle the temperatures inside a vehicle.

To keep your leftover stranded hookup wire in good shape,

• Coil it neatly to avoid kinks or tangles.
• Store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Use zip ties or twist ties to keep coils organized.
