Squirrel blocks usually contain a mix of nuts, seeds, and grains that are pressed together to form a solid block. Common ingredients include peanuts, sunflower seeds, corn, and sometimes added vitamins or minerals to support squirrel health. These blocks are designed as a supplemental food source and can help attract squirrels and other wildlife to your yard. Always check the product label for a full list of ingredients to ensure it meets your needs and preferences for wildlife feeding.

When choosing a rodent block for squirrels, look for options labeled as suitable for wildlife or specifically for squirrels. These blocks often feature a blend of nuts and seeds that appeal to their natural diet. Wildlife-grade blocks are typically formulated to provide balanced nutrition and can be used alongside other foods like shelled peanuts. Consider the block’s size and ingredients to match the feeding habits of local squirrels and always follow the usage instructions for best results.

Completely preventing squirrels from visiting an area can be challenging, as they are persistent and resourceful. However, you can discourage them by removing accessible food sources, securing trash bins, and using squirrel-proof bird feeders. Physical barriers like fencing or netting may also help protect specific areas. Keep in mind that these methods can reduce squirrel activity, but results may vary depending on your environment and the local squirrel population.

The "5 7 9 rule" is not a widely recognized guideline in squirrel care or feeding. If you’re referring to a specific feeding schedule or measurement, it’s best to consult the product instructions or a wildlife expert for clarification. For general squirrel feeding, always provide fresh water and a variety of nuts, seeds, and grains in moderation. Following the directions on your chosen squirrel block or wildlife food can help support healthy feeding habits.

To use a squirrel block, place it in a secure, elevated spot like a platform feeder or a tree branch where squirrels can easily reach it. Avoid placing it directly on the ground to reduce attracting unwanted pests. Monitor the block regularly and replace it as needed, especially in wet weather. Providing fresh water nearby can also encourage squirrels and other wildlife to visit your yard safely and comfortably.
