A split queen foundation is made up of two separate pieces that, when placed side by side, support a standard queen mattress. This design makes it much easier to move the foundation through tight spaces like stairways or narrow doorways. Split foundations are especially helpful for homes with tricky layouts or limited access. You’ll still get the same support as a traditional one-piece foundation, but with added convenience for setup and transport.

Most standard queen mattresses are designed to fit on a split queen foundation, but it’s always a good idea to double-check your mattress dimensions.

• Standard queen size is typically 60" x 80".
• Split foundations are made to match this size when both pieces are combined.

Assembly steps can vary by model, but most split queen foundations are designed for easy setup.

1. Unbox both foundation pieces and lay out all included parts.
2. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to connect the frame sections, usually with simple tools or hand-tightened bolts.
3. Add the fabric cover if included, and place both halves side by side under your mattress.

Many split queen foundations are built with noise reduction in mind, using sturdy metal or wood frames and fabric covers to minimize squeaks.

• Look for features like reinforced joints and noise-free construction in the product description.
• Proper assembly and regular tightening of bolts can also help keep things quiet.

Keeping your split queen foundation in good shape is simple:

• Wipe down the frame with a damp cloth to remove dust.
• If your foundation has a removable fabric cover, check the care label for washing instructions—many can be spot cleaned or machine washed.
• Periodically check and tighten any bolts or connectors to maintain stability.
